The Sackler family, a sprawling and now feuding transatlantic dynasty, is famous in cultural and academic circles for decades of generous philanthropy.

But what’s less well known, though increasingly being exposed, is that much of their wealth comes from one product – OxyContin, the blockbuster prescription painkiller first launched in 1996.

One in ten Belgians uses heavy painkillers such as oxycodone, tramadol and fentanyl. But what starts with a pill ends for many in a debilitating addiction. In the end there's nothing left in your life but the intoxication.

On May. 18th 2021 Arun Gupta MD held for Rotary Club & Dist. 6400 an actual presentation about the Opioid Epidemic and Crisis in the USA with the title :  WHY THE DRUG OVERDOSE DEATH RATES AR GOING UP AND HOW CAN WE REDUCE POLY DRUG OVERDOSE DEATH RATES IN AMERICA! 

The Rotary Action Group or Addiction Prevention supports a prevention programme soon to be implemented by Rotary Clubs in Spain and Dianova.
