YPI: Youth prevention influencers

Youth Prevention Influencers: International Project of the Rotary Action Group for Addiction Prevention (RAG AP) Chapter Youth.

A project for the promotion of mental health and wellness focus on addiction prevention.

Training for professional prevention workers from local NGOs to subsequently train young people with a drive and interest in addiction prevention supported by Rotary clubs, in the principles of addiction and prevention.

After their training, these young influencers take their own initiatives for prevention in collaboration with the supporting Rotary club in their local community. In this way we bring prevention to young people by young people and we make strong intergenerational bonds between Rotary clubs and committed young people from their local community. Promising for current promotion of mental health and happiness adapted to youth culture and for renewal and rejuvenation of Rotary clubs and projects.

A regional Academic Institute monitors and evaluates the actions taken so that young people and clubs can quickly learn about the efficiency and the result of the actions taken to make permanent adjustments. The Regional Academic Institutes are supported internationally in this by the research center of Howest, University for applied sciences in Bruges Belgium, which specializes in health and addiction prevention, in collaboration with the scientific committee of RAG AP.

The project is a collaboration between UNODC department prevention, the world federation against drugs, Carlton Hall Foundation and Howest, University for applied sciences. The project is suitable for an individual club action, district grants and global grants. Pilot projects are being started in Australia, Belgium, India, and Kenya. A global grant blueprint will be available shortly.
